![]() Nick's creative sounds, Roger hammering the drums, John- PTFB JOHN!!, Simon sounds as good as ever. Always fun singing and "playing' along with DD while the youngsters nearby look mystified. The great "oldies" and classics pulled up the most excellent memories of the vinyl and casette days. The new songs from FUTURE PAST are quite relevant to the day. Everyone is as always AMAZING!! DD EQUALS LIFE for many of us "veteran" Duranies. This was my 7th concert with DD since 1984, 3rd at MPP. Can't fault the performers - Duran Duran played well, just couldn't enjoy it due to bad mix. This was the worst sounding show I've been to at this venue. Also, in my younger years I used to run sound (at much smaller venues) - it's possible that I was just in a "bad spot" and that the mix was perfect elsewhere in the auditorium, but I highly doubt it since the opening act had a perfect mix. I frequently attend shows by metal bands, so just being loud was not the issue, it was being loud enough to cause distortion. In addition, the general overall sound level/volume was way to high/loud - Simon Le Bon's vocals would frequently distort. The only times there was a good mix were songs that featured saxophone - otherwise, either one instrument (guitar, bass, or keys/synth) randomly would be way too loud in the mix and sounded (unintentionally) distorted. HORRIBLE and inconsistent mix/sound ruined most of Duran Duran's set. ![]() Rock on, Duran Duran, and don't ever stop!□□□□□□ Highland, CA Yaamava’ Theater These men have outlasted years beyond all other pretty boy one-hit cades, actually, and still look pretty damn sexy. I want everyone to know that those who may have thought in the '80s these "pretty boys" with their fanatic following would be a trend that would pass ("The Fab Five" they were dubbed) were completely wrong. They are in they're 60's and can still rock the house! No lip syncing here. Last night's show () at Yaamava' Theatre was also wonderful. I even carved their original "DD" logo in the new concrete in the patio at my parents' home (they've lived there since 1980 and it's still there to this day)! I couldn't afford to see them as a teenager, but when I was several years into my "grown-up" career I was fortunate enough to see them perform at The Barrymore on Broadway in NYC (11/2007) for their "Red Carpet Massacre" tour (VIP, front row, John Taylor's side - love love love him and have had a huuuuuge crush on him since the early '80s!) I saw them on the last night of their "Future Past" US tour at the Hollywood Bowl (), which was another fantastic show with a spectacular finale ("Rio", "choreographed" to a fireworks show). They have been my favorite band since the early '80s when I was a "tween".
